There's always some ingenious means for dealing with reality. One of the main structural points of new digital film-making is the way it has more of a relationship with documentary than with the conventional feature film, even though, at the end of the day, it's a drama. But audiences have become much more familiar - and, I think, much more comfortable - with naturalism in terms of the environment than with fake naturalism, as characterised by Hollywood film-making.

What? No more deserted tropical islands built on a studio sound stage in LA? Gilligan's Island wouldn't be the beloved classic that it is if Mary Ann's coconut cream pies had been made from real coconuts!
